Test drove this today and was extremely disappointed. I have an 08 SL which I am very happy with but want to get a new car after 4 years.

The 2012 drove okay, but I could see the difference in the smaller 1.6 engine. Not as peppy as my 08.

The interior was just blah. They made made it cheap looking. Gone is the nice overhead lights with the compartment for my glasses. The armrest was gone also. I was told the SL had a tiny armrest but I love the big one I have now with storage in it.

The armrest in the back with 2 cup holders is gone. The glove box is smaller as is the side compartments on the door.

The Intelligent Key is gone, replaced by a fob and real key. I got so used to keeping key in my pocket, I know I will miss it a lot.

All in all, they ruined the Versa in my opinion. After the road test I looked around my 08 again and thought it looked like a luxury car compared to the new 2012.

Guess I'll take the Honda Fit for a ride and might think about getting that.

Laugh So...... lack of bling & you turn up your nose. Seems like the EPA may have under-estimated the 2012 Versa sedan highway rating at 38mpg. Numerous real-world reports exceed 40mpg...... 45mpg....... & even 51+mpg. The 2012 Versa sedan has 'long legs'... low rpms at highway speeds & the 1.6 liter sedan engine is squeezing drops of gas. Even mountain journeys indicate that 40+mpg trips can be had. The Versa sedan & feather footing works well together.  Laugh

The bottom line is Nissan is committed to keeping the Versa inexpensive.  And it appears they'll do whatever it takes to beat their Korean competition when it comes to that.  I like my Fit, but at the same time too, I'm disappointed by some of the cheap materials Honda used in it, especially the carpeting.  Even my old 1994 Sentra SE-R used better grade carpeting than the Fit.  Tongue

Drove off the lot with my new 5 speed Versa S Sedan in September of 2012 for an OTD price of $12,900. Six tanks of gas later, only the first tank yielded under 40 mpg at 39.2 mpg. The best so far was all highway miles at 47.7 mpg. Very pleased with these results so far.

I like the Versa. I had a test drive at one of my NYC used cars dealers too. You are right about the power. Cute little car though.
