"1992 Merc Gr Marquis The outside temperature on the digital dashboard drops to -38F shortly after I start driving the car. There must be some type of temperature sensor under the hood. Where do I find it and how can I fix this problem? Thanks

the exterior ambient temp sensor is 19E702

its in the upper image ...  under the top of the radiator core support...

warning.. there are AIR BAG SENSORS UP THERE ALSO...  you really want to read a manual before messing with those..

19E702
Part Number: F2AZ19E702A
Description: Ambient Air Temperature Sensor
Includes two sensors  around 40 bucks for a pair... at some dealerships..

you might want to locate it.. unplug it and plug it back in several times...

there is a chance after all these years..   that car is 19 years old.. that the wires that are exposed to the wind might have flexed enough to fatigue and break inside the insulation.. or it could just have corrosion problems from being exposed..

when the circuit opens...   like when the connection is lost.. it will default to the lowest temp possible..
