My wife has a new Honda Insight LX. As she's slowing, the car briefly surges forward when it hits 9 mph. She can control it with the brake, but it frightens her. Has anyone else heard of this?

We have a 2000 Insight and experience a similar situation. It's when the regerative braking cuts off below the minimal effective speed, therefore reducing effective braking, and the driver experiences the sensation of "surging." It's effectively like lifting off the brake pedal suddenly -but not completely.

Hey thanks for putting on such a good question as it must be in various peoples mind and must be disturbing them as well and thanks put ting the cause behind it so well that explains a lot of things and might easy pressure on the drivers mind.
