I have a simple question for Jason Cammisa.   Do you know anything about suspensions?  Anything at all?  You remind me of a friend who told me, "My car can handle real good because it has Rack&pinion steering!"  The Corvette has Short/long arm suspension front and rear, like most race cars;  The porsche has Mcstruts up front(Cheap) and a multilink rear- the multilink rear to negate the bad handling caused be sticking an engine in the rear.  As for the leaf springs, they support the car, they don't locate the suspension...maybe if you did something more than read books you might know all of this.  Also, the plastic leaf springs last many times longer than steel springs and are substantially lighter; Maybe if the Porsche had spent more effort on lightness it could keep up with the Vette...but then it would cost even more...and don't forget, not only does the pushrod V8 out perform the flat six in cost vs power vs economy, but it's the newer technology.  'Course, you can't be as snooty in a Vette...

I have to apologize for not stating what this was pertaining to;  I read a Automobile comparison test between a Vette and a 911, and the second page had an arguement between two guys about which was better...obviously, I think the Vette is, but I also understand the 911 faithful would never agree.  That's OK, so be it.  But.  I cannot abide a man that spouts BS and obviously doesn't know what he's talking about, especially when he works for a car mag.  He compared the Vette's suspension to "the Flinstone's car", which is a funny statement, but patently absurd.  The leaf spring is just used as a spring and has no effect on suspension geometry...in fact you can get coil-overs that plug right in, allowing for adjustments during competition.  The early Cobras used their leaf springs as upper arms, which is why the 427's got a whole new chassis.  The Vette has had Double A-arm suspension front and rear since 1997, at least; I don't remember if the C4s had a multi link or A-arms in back.  The Vette is a great bargain and improved immensely when redesigned in 1997...but of course, it doesn't have an interior that is comparable to any car costing half again as much.
