If most of you know my screename and read my car reviews or comparisons, you probably notice that I like to write a couple statistics and features about each car. So when I thought is this comparo I really couldn't do that since we don't have any information on one of the cars, one of them has been around for a while so what's the point, and the other has been tested left and right making its official debut soon in the U.S.
So at this time I ask you, should you have the money right now to go and get a Ford Fiesta, Fiat 500, or Chevy Aveo....which would you buy? Why is that your choice? And what would the automaker have to do to make there care more appealing??

I only know so much about the Fiesta and 500 since they're not here yet. I do know the Aveo, which I believe is a Daewoo to begin with, is something I'm not interested in. I like the Fiat but still can't forget how troublesome they were when they were here before. That's why, I'm just going to wait and see how they fear this time around. That's also why I'd pick the Ford if I had to choose one of these cars today.

The Aveo is not even remotely in the same class (style, quality, and probably not even price-wise). I think a Fit or even Cube would be a better comparison. The Fiesta is interesting to me, but I'd have to go with the Fiat.

What are you talking about?? All three of these cars are aimed at the same audience. Yes it is true that not all three are in the same "class" but they are all in the same price range (at least of what we currently know) and are meant to be small/fuel efficient vehicles. Fit and Cube? Now those would definitely not be in the same class or price range.

I hope the Fiesta and 500 are on a different level than the Aveo, which is a crude rebadged Daewoo Lanos. I really do like front wheel drive subcompacts too, it appears though that the Aveo is everything that's wrong with them. If price is the bottom line when it comes to this machine, I'd possibly be happier with a Nissan Versa

From what I understand, the Fiat and the Fiesta will be much more in that mid-to-upper teens price range when they come out. The Aveo tops out well below that and is really just for people who want a bargain-basement new car as opposed to used. The Aveo continues the "proud" tradition of penalty-box entry level cars. I just don't think people will cross-shop a Fiat 500 and an Aveo. To me the Aveo competes more directly with cars like the Accent and the Yaris.

Well the main purpose of these cars is to try and follow the trend from big trucks and SUV's to small compact "fuel efficient" cars. Price wise they are all in the same range. Though, as I mentioned before, they are not in the same class, all these cars are aimed at the same public.

From what I've seen of these cars (I know the Aveo well at least) the Aveo is bare bones entry level meant to compete with Accent's, Versa's etc http://autos.yahoo.com/car-compare/overview/?trimId0=26910&trimId1=26156&trimId2=28133 While the Fiesta will compete with the next level of small cars, unless FoMoCo chooses to release a no thrills, stripper Fiesta too. If they get desperate enough, especially in this economy they might. I believe the Fiesta will start around $14K though. Edmunds has it listed as high as $18.5 K. The 500 will start around $16,000. I see them both undercutting the more expensive Mini, who Aveo shoppers aren't thinking about.

When it comes to pricing, I think the most expensive any of these cars will be at 16,000....no more. These would be great cars for College students and definitely for all the green lovers out there.

Well I know Chevy doesn't have any plans to make a more appealing Aveo in 2010, so that will easily sticker for under $16,000. I know Fiat has a high performance 500 to offer and FoMoCo for the time being looks like they're going to stay away from attaching something such as a SVT badge to the Fiesta. I bet they'll spice it up sooner or later though.
