You know I'm a fan of technology when it's used appropriately. However, I'm also a firm believer that technology will one day be our downfall if we get so dependent on it that we, the human race, become 500lb. people walking the earth. At the same time there some things you do with technology, and somethings you don't. This, in my opinion, is one of those things you just DON'T do with technology.

In case anyone asks...this thing can do 0 to 60 in 4.5 seconds. Any thoughts?

I agree, getting dependent on technology could lead to man's downfall.  I'm all for using my Raleigh when ever possible instead of my motorized machines.  The old Amphibicar looks like fun, I wouldn't want to see Lake Michigan loaded with them though

I just think cars should be cars and boats should be boats. They should stay seperate now and forever until death do them part!!

I agree, the only time I would prefer cars be more amphibian is during times of war when the military can really use such a vehicle. In fact as a tourist in Wisconsin Dells I took a ride on their Ducks there http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WisconsinDellsDucks.jpg.  They were vehicles used back in WW2 which were capable of both land and sea travel. It wouldn't be bad though if cars were built to handle flood conditions, such as what happened in New Orleans after Katrina hit it.  The whole idea of using cars for pleasure boating though is something this world doesn't need.

Well flooding conditions is a bit different. However, that would be a good idea if a car had some sort of way to keep in engine runnning during flooding conditions.

Does everyone need one? No. Are there those who could use one? Yes. Are there situations where such a vehicle is needed? Yes -- just ask search and rescue teams that use Argo ATVs and other amphib vehicles to save lives. The DUKW reference is another instance where, the technology was used for a specific purpose.

An amphibious vehicle doesn't annoy as much as the premise of a "flying car." Wouldn't that just be a barebones Cessna? The fact that people keep playing with the idea bothers me to no end (just think of the traffic-control nightmares).

That said, this example is garish and over the top. Not to my taste, thanks, but I would love to try out a Gibbs Aquada someday...

And if we're trying to parse down technology, ditch your car and boat already -- one can, in theory, both walk and swim...

Now this is something really great, but does these cars engines do run on water or does this car itself run on water, as after seeing those pics i can find that the cars are on water and this usually looks like rafting boats.

No they don't run on water. They use gasoline like most engines in todays world. The vehicle itself can "drive" on water as you can tell by the pictures.
