HUMMER has been one brand who has gotten battered so much by the current economy that it's own existence is in jeapordy. GM has been in talks with Tengzhong, a Chinese Automaker, to sell the brand is it's no good to GM anymore. Now at this time nothing has been finalized so Hummer's future is still Pending. However, Hummer still has hope as new plans and concept models have arised and it seems like Tengzhong agrees with the changes. As to when these changes might take affect is another question.

So what do you think? Is Hummer going to see tomorrows sunrise or has the sun set on this large brand?

Methinks Hummer will be taking a dirt nap.

While the H2 may have seemed like a good idea at the time, there are only so many upper income people who can afford such a conveyance, and they already have one.  The H3 is (relatively) smaller and more efficient, but it too has a fairly narrow audience base.

The marketing guys have painted poor Hummer into a corner. By its very nature, Hummers must be big bulky SUV type things.  Vehicle fashions change, and looking like one can scale Mt. Kilimanjaro may well go the way of the halo padded top, wire wheel covers, and opera windows.  Once upon a time (and to this day in certain parts of New Jersey and Fort Lauderdale), people thought those were cool too.

Then, there's the ownership problem.  A lot of the people who bought Hummers were "Americuns" who festooned their tailgates with "Support the Troops", "W-STILL the President", and the obligatory Stars and Stripes decals.  I'm not certain that buying from a concern owned by the Chi-Comms will play real well with that crowd.

In 30 years, when GM does their usual thing and decides to relive past glories rather than try something new, we'll see a revival.  Perhaps it will even have opera windows .

Well the "big bulky SUV" stereo type its true but doesn't have to be for all hummers. The H3 is one exception to that rule. And I'm sure the design team can design something different that is a bit smaller.
