OK, this could make Autombile Mag. the talk of the town! Being the high end of middle age (58) I lived through the custom van era. Had a beauty. 1975 Dodge Tradesman 300. 360 V8. Lots of punch poor gas mileage - about 9mpg. I put on headers, and dual exhaust, Carter 4-bbl carb, Edlebrock manifold and new air cleaner. Gas mileage went to 14. a 64% increase! Now with that said, Automobile Mag. could do a complete breakdown on "Add-Ons" that we could put on our SUV's that would create definitive increases in gas mileage. Since many makes share the same drive train, it wouldn't be that hard to cover many models. Breakdown to percentage of gas mileage increase, power decrease or increase, warranty ramifications, do-it-yourself or have a mechanic do it, average cost for each addition, etc. You could have manufacturers help bear the cost of the project or you could have it as an "e-book" download. Who wouldn't buy it if they own an SUV. I can't believe that Bosch or Holley or somebody couldn't put a package together to get a 25% or greater increase in gas mileage. A lotless money than buying a new vehicle. It could be BIG!!
