This write-up put in print a question I and a number of friends have chewed on since the first Prius showed up. Given the amount of safety equipment that is now mandated and/or expected, we'll most likely never see a sub-ton car like the CRX HF again. What the manufacturers can do, is inject a little bit of the DNA from the HF into their green lineup. The HF was a car an enthusiast could get in and drive without feeling like they were in a penalty box. Maybe the Honda CR-Z will succeed at reminding people that "green" and "fun to drive" do not have to be mutually exclusive.
