Now that the C6R is dieing, does anyone want a street legal C6R? There is a company that will give your Z06 a C6R body, but it is still a Z06 with a lot of extra weight. I was thinking of something more like the Viper GTS-R or some Porsche 911 GT3 variants.
This would result in minimal equipment. Similarities to the real C6R would be: *Racing brakes *100% carbon fiber body aerodynamically identical to the real C6R *No radio or removable roof. *Two racing seats with no power adjustments. Both would have 5 point belts. The passenger seat would come out if you want to race. *Fire extinguisher behind the seats which could be moved forward when you pull the passenger seat. *No sound deadening material at all *Race car frame rather than stock frame (?) *Minimum exhaust restrictions would include the best intake and exhaust options available. *Comparable power train (see below). *Race suspension. *If you DO want to race, just pull the passenger seat, move the fire extinguisher, and put on some slicks. *C6R paint scheme, albeit without the ads
Areas in which the car would resemble a stock Vette: *Powertrain must hold up to either being stored as a collector's car or daily driving (if you could tolerate it) *Airbags would be needed. However, I can see them being removable for racing (which would make the car not street legal) *Street legal tires (which might be the same size as the tires used by the real C6R) *
Please note that the price would easily eclipse that of the ZR1.

Well, seeing as the GTS-R weighs 3000 lbs with 500 HP (pwr/wt = 6.0) and the 2009 Z06 weighs 3175 with 505 HP (pwr/wt = 6.28), but with much better balance than the Viper, I'd say it shouldn't be too hard to bring the Z06 to the same pwr to wt.
I'd start by chucking the passenger seat as you said, but that would violate the rules of T1 in SCCA. But the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR (full-race setup) weighs 2739 lbs with 450 HP (pwr/wt = 6.08) will set you back $493,392.
I think I'll keep my Z06 just like it is (maybe reduce the weight a little by removing the tire air valve caps).
