OK...so its not hate, but there is no reason why the Audi Q5 is better then the XC60...the XC60 is the best premium crossover out there! best value, best interior quality, most power, yadda yadda yadda.
Car magazines seem to be unwilling to give Volvo any kind of win.

Volvo doesn't do anything spectacular.  They're a solid brand, but they're overlooked because they're... well, boring.

The XC60 is the closest thing they have to an "exciting" production vehicle - and I use that term very, very loosely.

Now if they put the S60 concept into production, then they'll get some rave reviews, I'm sure.  It's definitely showing their design language moving in a more engaging direction.

C30,C70,XC60, and S80 V8 AWD....they are not boring vehicles.
Add to that, their designs are distinct, they are not copying anyone else's design. the interior and exterior are purely Scandinavian, and Volvo design cues remiain intact.

Methinks you're drinking the Aquavit-flavored Kool-Aid a bit.    There's nothing inherently wrong with Volvos, but I don't think they're an especially compelling value when there are more affordable comparable models with more features for less money. And like it or not, they don't have the cachet and status with consumers to demand the kind of prices that Mercedes, BMW, and Lexus can command.

@Esanchez: good point, especially when it comes to that Custom Build Program offered on the likes of the C30.

I'm fine with paying extra money to order a bizarre color/trim package, but why should I have to spend $300 in order to drop an extra $185 on cruise control? Heck, why isn't this feature standard on a $24,000 car?

My family has had a few Volvos. We all liked them very well! The new ones all look like cool cars!
There is no one, perfect car!

dude, cruise control is standard. so is bluetooth. and the "custom build" is no longer an option, unless you do it through Overseas Delivery...and then the car starts under $23,000 and you get a free trip to Europe. Whats not to love?

Unless you've got something that dispels Volvo's 2009 US consumer and media websites, I'm calling shenanigans. Custom Build appears to be quite alive and well, and cruise control seems to still be an option on the T5 available *ONLY* if you spring for that $300 fee. And Bluetooth still appears to be an option, at least on the T5.

Volvo's media site confirms CC is an option on the 2009 C30--at least on the T5.

Your dealer must also be running some nice discounts, as MSRP on a T5 is $23,800--I'm not good with math, but how does that start under $23,000? like you said? Even with the "Volvo Allowance," I'm looking at $23,125 for a T5 with *no* options. Add about $485 if I wanted to add cruise and nothing else.

I don't dislike the C30; it's a good car, and I do like Ford's C1 platform, especially in the Mazda3 and Euro Focus. Still, you can't argue that the car isn't oddly packaged/optioned for the money. I can get a loaded 3 Grand Touring for just under $23,000. A loaded C30? Try in the $30k range.

If you're willing to pay for styling and preference, have at it, but I can't convincingly argue the car's a bargain.

I am reffering to the 2010 C30. AND the pricing, as I stated, was for Overseas Delivery (which is a discounted price from MSRP.)
