Do people consider the so-called "lifetime warranty" legal?

It is my understanding that it legally isn't a warranty unless it is transferable.  Besides, the word lifetime implies that the warranty is valid until the car is junked.  Seeing as Chrysler has escape clauses for both, I take their warranty claims with a grain of salt.

Seriously, if Chrysler runs out warranty reimbursement funds, all they have to is tighten the rules such that even the cars rolling off the assembly line right now won't qualify.
