What are some of your favorite "green" cars that still offer a bit of fun and performance? I think I'll go with a Mini Cooper. I hate the suspension harshness of a Mini S, but I drove one to NYC this past summer and saw 38+ mpg on a tank that included driving through Manhattan!
Do we have to give up the fun to be frugal?

Toyota's commitment to the environment is strengthened further by offering the #1 selling car in America [1] as a hybrid.

My current daily driver, smart fortwo carbrio. More fun to drive than any other car I've owned. I've had a few in 37 years of driving.
Since you did say enthusiast cars, if you don't believe smart owners are enthusiasts, try visiting a smart forum.

Give me a break! How can you possibly claim the Camry is an enthusiast's car with a straight-face? Unless you're saying "green" enthusiast instead of green "enthusiast". It's all about which term you emphasize. The Cooper S is a green "enthusiast" car, whereas the Prius is a "green" enthusiast car.
If there's one car that could manage to fall into both camps, I'd say my vote would be for the Jetta TDI. I still don't know if I'd personally buy one due to my less-than-stellar past experiences with VW quality, but in terms of balancing fuel efficiency, performance, and value, I think I'd have to give it the crown.
