Curious. Love VW's. This would be a nostalgic purchase, guilty as charged. This new car could fit 3 kids - would be trading from a Dodge Grand Caravan. What is anybody's take on VW's minivan? Advice/Sage/Wisdom welcome.

The VW Routan should drive a bit better than the Dodge Caravan that it's based upon due to suspension changes but I'd still go with the Honda Odyssey. Go drive them all and pick the one you like the best.

I actually went on a test drive a few weeks ago in a Routan and it had some good zip to it. I was in the Premium SEL model and the leather was very nice...comparable, maybe even more plush than that on my Infinity. For an everyday minivan, the S Model gets it done just fine. I'd definitely suggest taking it out for a test drive.

I recently purchased a Routan and was very disappointed to find it had a Chrysler engine. Not to mention that when it rains, the driver side door drains water all over your shoes when you open the door. I have been to the dealer 3 times for service..molding falling off, the radio not functioning properly, and the water drainage issue that they tell me is "just the way it is designed" I am disgusted with the response from Jim Ellis VW in Atlanta GA. If I had it to do over again, I would have done more research on this vehicle and the dealership where it was purchased.
