Has anyone heard any information about the Acura TL transmissions going out before 100,000 miles. I believe it was starting with the 2001 models but not sure. That is when they went with the 6-speed transmission. I am wanting to purchase a used TL but not quite sure what year to go with.

Yes, you are correct on the transmission problem. Acura has issued a recall on automatic transmissions in the 2nd generation TL's, I believe that is 1999 to 2003. I own a 2003 Acura TL Type-S w/NAVI and have head my transmission replaced under warranty about 30,000 miles in, the car started shifting irrationally (would downshift own it's own). Other then that, its a great car, no complaints, they did figure out what the problem is, small part that over heated, and my car is now 103,800 miles (I drive a lot) and no problems. Plan on having it to well over 200,000 miles. I am putting in about $1,000 now to get my 105,000 mile service done.
