I'm out in California this week to drive the 2009 Hyundai Genesis. I sampled the V-6 car first, and then the V-8 on the way back from Buttonwillow Raceway. I honestly enjoyed the V-6 car a lot more on the track. On the road, the V-8 car was only more fun when you really booted it on a long, straight piece of road. Everyone is comparing the V-8 car to the finest German sport sedans and ignoring the V-6 model all together. But Hyundai expects the V-6 to make up about 80 percent of the sales mix.
What cars do you see the V-6 competing with on the dealer lots? It sounds like a much better deal than an Avalon since you get rwd with a Genesis, but the Chrysler 300 might be a better competitor since both are rwd. Let me know where you think the V-6 Genesis will be stealing sales.

Well if luxury is the main competition then I believe the Genesis V-6 competes with the Cadillac STS/DTS, 2009 Lincoln MKS, 300C, Avalon, Accord, Maxima, Acura RL, & Infiniti M35. All those cars mght not be RWD but it's as close as I can get.

Maybe in price, but even there, the Genesis V6 undercuts the ES, I believe, but would be close to what a CC would fetch. I don't know if they'd necessarily attract the same buyer.
