Driving at low speed on a residential street, my mother's car took off on its own and she lost control of the car and crashed into a pole and died on the scene. We are trying to determine the vehicle malfunction (electronic or mechanical) causing this throttle surge. Does any one have any advice. Also, how do I get the E.D.R. data?

I remember reading somewhere a long time ago about Toyota Tundra having the same unusual throttle surge. Always narrowed down to the Drive by wire design of the throttle cable but after investigations by Toyota and car safety board the real reason has never been found. The unusual throttle surge has been noted in articles and accident claims before. I cant remember where I saw it, I encountered while reading into Tundras when i was thinking of buying one.

Has anyone been successful in getting Toyota to download and provide data from the EVENT DATA RECORDER (EDR)?
