Hello,
what do you think the future cars will look like,? I personally think that Cadiillac whith its A&S philosophy is closest to the future car design.... in 20 years XLR-V wil still look futuristic.. In french movie Renesains " renault and peugot look very "Caddy'sh" .action of the movie is put few decades in future( 2050 I think) I also think Mazda has a nice designed prototyopes I would tell You there's few designs from the 60'ties that look ok today..
Im a muscle car fan(old and few new , I love that retro-futuristic( neo - retro)design of modern Muscle ernwopr@wp.pl

A very good question stanczyk, but it's almost impossible to say. A lot will depend on the demands of the safety and eco nazis. Concerns over collisions with SUVs and pedestrian safety are largely responsible for the current slew of cars with front ends resembling bloody trucks. For example, take a look at the advertisement on this site (while it lasts) with the new Chevy Malibu and Tahoe parked next to each other, and you'll see that the hood of the Malibu is almost as tall as the Tahoe's. Personally, I hate it, and look with longing at the low slant nosed cars of the 80s and 90s. I also detest the current trend of massive wheels and tiny windows, though that style shows no sign of stopping.
Future car design will also depend enormously on emerging technology, such as GM's "skateboard" vehicle platform, electric engines, drive by wire capabilities and other ideas that are not yet fully realized.
Disregarding the technological aspect, car design is a lot like fashion. Vehicles from the 50s and 60s tended to be large, flamboyant and, oftentimes over-styled. Some of the most beautiful and most repulsive designs came from this era. The late 70s and 80s saw a shift to more compact, minimalist designs that were all straight edges and angles. I'm sure it must have looked futuristic at the time, though when most people think of 80s cars now they just seem old and boring. Round edges made a comeback in the 90s, and today's designs are something of a mix between rounded and angular. I don't know what direction the designs of the future will take, but it should certainly be interesting to watch.

Automakers are striving for sexier-looking cars as a way to draw buyers who once may have been sold on power, performance, warranties or amenities. “This is the absolute best time ever to be a car designer,” says Patrick Schiavone, who leads Ford’s North American design effort.

I think maybe someday the cars can hover into the air or maybe can fly almost as half the height of the tallest building
