Buick LaCrosse gets 1-star crash rating

The Buick LaCrosse was recently crash tested, and received ONE STAR. I didn't know that was even possible for a new car made anywhere but China. But I suppose the LaCrosse is based on the same platform that underpinned the Pontiac Grand Prix, the Oldsmobile Intrigue, and the Buick Regal all through the nineties. You surprised by this rating?

Front engined cars designed by American cars have a history of sub standard floor pans that crumple when hit dead ahead.

I found it amazing when Chrysler got a poor rating on one of their cars because the floor pan crumpled and the testing agency said that that equated to severely broken legs.

I was'nt amazed at the rating,I was amazed at what Chysler publicly released as a response.

"Broken legs are survivable" is what they released.

That was for a test of the Sebring if I remember correctly.

I have a question. I read a lot of reviews touting the Buick LeSabre and Buick LaCrosse as one of the best cars in their class. We all know that GM makes the same cars in their Pontiac and Chevrolet line. Why is the Buick rated higher in almost every Consumer and Car Magazine.  What is the real difference between the same model in other GM cars. Perplexed!!!!!

Hub?  Source for this ?

I googled, and couldn't find anything credible giving the LaCrosse a one star rating.  A blog on doesn't count.

Looking here, it's not a one:

The one-star BEFORE Feb. 5, 2007 was right. I checked the govt. site, and the one star is front seat, side impact. It got five stars for driver and passenger for frontal crashes. After Feb. 5, it gets three stars for the front seat in a side crash and four stars for the rear seat.
