anybody seen clutch / trans go out on this car at 58k miles?  

I have an 05 (new body style) jetta TDI with 83,000 miles on it and not only did the flywheel come apart and ruin the transmission but they also discovered the lobes on the camshaft were worn and the cylinder head needs to be replaced. I bought this car new, drive it to work each day and do NOT abuse it in any way. VW says they have never seen this before but do not admit it must be a manufacturing problem. They did help out with the repair and sell me the parts at a discount.

My son bought a VW certified 2002 jetta GLX and the clutch went around the 52,000 mile mark. We didn't care at the time because it was covered by the warranty.  

did you put in a short shif in and if so should last 75,oo0 if you are not hard racer on it need to learn to dirve with the short shifter and will last longer in rember vw are not speed racers unless you biuld it that way so be good to the car and car will be good to you,
