I purchased a 2007 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SE just about 2 yrs ago and just put 22,000 miles on it and my wife got on the freeway and when she gassed it.  The car stopped at 40MPH and it wasn't going any faster.  I took the car to Nissan and they told me that the Transmission is about to gve out.

My Question is:  Is this a common situation or was this something that just happened by fluke.  I would seriously hate to think we spent all this money for a well performed machine for nothing?

I purchased a 2007 Nissan Altima with a faulty transmission.  The transmission was replaced (90) days after new car purchase....the car is leaking oil again - now into the engine....Less than 5000 miles on car....very angry at this point...contacted Nissan consumer affairs and they are clueless.

Apparently the newer Nissans Maxima's and Altima's have been fitted with transmissions from the old Murano's....they can not be adjusted only replaced....my car is now being fitted with transmission number (2)!!!

What a disaster!!!  I will never purchase, nor look at another Nissan product - EVER!!
