I'm from Los Angeles and had a car I had never seen pass me by.  Thank god it was rush hour because I caught up with it and the car was a Corvette with Michigan plates.  When I got home I got on the internet to see if I could find it on Google.  I looked at a number of concept corvettes and it looked nothing like anything I saw on there.  When I looked up old corvettes I noticed it had a striking resemblence to the 1956 Corvette.  I followed the car for a good 15 miles and definately know it was brand new.  Anyone know of anything about this?

People with massive skill and massive money do incredible things with these cars.

You might have just seen an incredibly beautifully modified old Vette.

Congratulations,made you're day did'nt it?

I've seen a few like that myself too.

You know that's interesting. I live in a suburb of Columbus, Oh. While driving home came across this older style Corvette with modern twist to it coming in the opposite direction. So intrigued I did a u-wee, got right behind it, and noticed a 4-exhaust pipes indicating a late model Vette. I was able to retrieve my digital camera and take 2 photos. On one of the photos you can clearly see the Ohio license plate "53 VETT" which it replicates. The other photo is a side profile, although kind of blurry, but legible. If anyone is interested, I would be glad to email the photos.

What you saw is more known as a Retro Vette, coming out soon, I happened to be working for one local company, and I am getting my new/old Vette in about 4 weeks.  Basically you take the old body style58-62,and Ad the new technology of today, and now you have a retro vette.  If you know of anyone who interested, you are welcome to email me at:
WahooJim@Aol.com  Teresa Better yet check out our website at www.Retro-Vette.Com This will give you a better look at the Car of the Future!!!  Kits are starting as low as the Mid 40's that inclused, motor, tires, window, basically a driveable car, except, you get to put the finall touches.  I hope I was able to answer your question.  It will be coming out on car Magazines soon!

There's this place in Bellevue, WA called park place LTD who sells these modified old vettes with new interiors. It's like getting the best of both worlds! You should check them out. I know they're expensive as all h**l though...

dunno, could be a restoration (i saw a '57 bel-air that looked like i had just crawled off the lot 2 weeks ago)
but chevy might also be trying to compete with ford's retro mustang.
