Boo... I say!!!
What a complete disappointment to go from such a beautiful incarnation of the Genesis sedan at the auto shows...
http://www.automobilemag.com/auto_shows/2007_new_york/0703_2007_hyundai_genesis_concept/photo_01.html
to the product version which we see here:
http://car-o-focus.com/spy-shots-production-hyundai-genesis-sedan/ Where did the creases in hood go? What happen to the head lights? What happen to the front air dam? What happen to the front grill? And no telling what else got left out.
If Hyundai is listening, you missed the mark. This coming from a current Hyundai Veracruz owner (a vehicle which I love) and with a strong consideration to purchase the Genesis when it hit state side.
Hyundai, you took what was an incredibly beautiful and exciting car and made it boring! If the Genesis sedan hits showroom floors looking like the photos in the second link you just a lost a potential buyer. If you could have brought the show car exterior to the production model largely untouched it would have been great. If you gave it the ride and performance of a sport tuned reversion of BMW 5 series sedan (does not have to be the M series) then you have a no brainer winner.

Shame on Hyundai ... for changing the innovative taillight design on the Genesis sedan to a BMW look-a-like. Add in a Lexus like front end and you get total disappointment. I guess I will stick with our Azera which is a good car but no sports sedan.

Is this for real? If so, it’s kind of sad that Hyundai could debut such a bold and individual looking show car only to lose its nerve and replace everything that was unique and exciting about it with bland, conservative styling from a maker whose average customer’s hair is nearing bright white. The show car was really well done and it appears only the headlights needed revision to be legal. Opportunity missed.
