It may not make you want to kill someone for it like the CTS, but it looks good, especially when compared to it's rivals, the Camry and Accord. And with GM's new car reputation, it should be right up there with them. And it will have a much better looking interior. What do you think?

We have a lot to say about the new Malibu -- we all had the chance to drive it last week. Unfortunately, our driving impressions are embargoed until next month, so there's not much we can say just yet!

I don't give a ____ about all that style, glitz, and crap. I bought a 2005 Malibu 3.5 V6 knowing full well that it was ugly! But no car anywhere around its weight (3300 lbs) had anywhere the combination of crash test safety (very important - don't give me any of that: Duh! Do you plan to get into a wreck!), economy/performance (over 30mpg on trips with load at high altitudes and over 29mpg at sea level - both at slightly over 80 mph! - try to match that/while able to go 0 to 60 in 8.1 seconds which is better than my 1970 Mustang Mach 1 and above 55mph the performance runs rings around that big 2 barrel V8 while its max MPG was 21 and it weighed even less than my Malibu , beats Toyota Camry with 4 cyl & 5 speed auto(both MPG and far better zoom, I know). So what does chevy do? It puts out glitz (ok) in the new model while destroying its MPG performance! From 32 HWY down to 28 - going from the 3.5 V6 to the new 3.6 V6! What are they thinking? At a projected $5 to $9 per gallon! What are they thinking? I want a 3300 pound car that now gets 40 mpg at 70mpg hwy, minimum. Take your glitz and shove it! I can afford to spend money on gas more than most people but I refuse to support the criminals that own the oil industry and suppress the oil supply via false flag wars in order to raise the price (Cornel U. reports that there is more oil in one tract offshore of Louisiana that the Human race has used in all history. The main purose of the Iraq war is to suppress its oil production and destroy arab society for Israel - the same goes for the attack on Iran! Anybody who believes the media is a moron! So I ain't buying the new Malibu nor any similar BS!

This car has a lot to offer for the price. But GM has big marketing challenge to help consumers believe it a valid alternative to new accord or Camry

Torque steer, baby. If it's got torque steer, I don't care how quick it gets to 60, or how many minivans I can beat to the next stoplight.

Anyone know about the mechanical design of the timing chain operated water pump. I believe the SAABs a few years back had such and integrated drive system for the water pump and it was very costly to fix. Water pump bearings are usually good for only about 100k miles.

It's a great car.
And a worthy choice to the competition.
GM should be proud.

Grabber- dude- you need to put another layer of tinfoil on your head. I think the CIA's microwaves are getting through again.
Look, no one wants to separate you from your -05 Malibu (except maybe the Bolsheviks- look out!). But good luck finding a NORMAL car that gets 40mpg @70mph. Unless maybe the NSA has one under development. Or is it the NSA that's suppressing the development of the car? In conjunction with the Oil-Defense-Industrial Complex I mean.
Anyway, ta-ta. Be sure to keep the filters in your bunker clean.

The chevy malibu is ill designed attempt at trying to emulate the acura tl. The front of the malibu has an undistinctive, undeveloped grille. Chevrolet has yet to define a corporate grille for its vehicles. The brake lights are an after thought, no distinct definition. The car just hides in plain site. A real yuckster. Did you see the interior? Just plain inferior. Chevy needs to try again!

Your obviously just a hater. I agree the tail lights are blah, and it really is not that much of a looker - it looks nice, buts not a "looker" like a ferrari, but your way off on the interior. The car overall is amazing, the mailbu has been steadily getting better with each model. Countless positive reviews prove that I am right.

Now if the malibu just keeps its value when you go to sell it like a camry or accord I will be impressed. Have you priced a 5 y.o. malibu over a similiar camry or accord? Ouch.
