Please be aware the 2006 Pathfinder electrical wiring harness can burn. Our mileage is around 30,000. We had a electric brake control unit put in a year ago, February 2006, right after we bought the vehicle. Our dash sensor lights came on a month ago, April 2007, and we took it to our dealer. After diagnosing the vehicle they downed our vehicle as being unsafe and then determined the entire wiring harness in the vehicle had completely melted. Now a month later, Hampton's determined because of the brake unit (still working without excessive electrical voltage) our warranty is void. The mechanic informed us the brake system was properly installed. Because the mechanic cannot determine the cause of the wire harness melting Hampton's is stating it "appears" the braking unit is the cause. I have found similar situations on the net.

Lesson here-have the dealer put the unit on.

Sure-it's a heck of alot more expensive but you save the warranty on the car.

Dealerships will look for ANY reason to not accept responsibilty for the vehicles they sell.

Your looking at several thousand dollars in repairs and when you have them done-you better tell the dealership or whoever you have repair the vehicle to take that brake control out or your problem could return as soon as you crank it up.
