Except for the Jeep, your comparisons included all of my winning-the-lottery fantasies except for the Mercedes G55 AMG. It is sixth tenths of a second slower to 60 MPH than the ML63 AMG, and quite a bit slower to higher speeds. However, based on its specifications, build site and history, it is likely to be more durable in off road use, if equipped with the proper tires and wheels. The G55 currently is the vehicle I would buy if I had $108,000 to spend.  If there are negative factors of which I am unaware, I would like to know them.

There are very few published reviews of the G55 AMG.  Why not?  

I just took delivery of my Jeep SRT8 right after reading your review, having traded in my '05 Grand Cherokee.  I also test-drove all the other SUVs in the article except the Mercedes, which never really appealed to me.  For perspective, I currently own an Audi A6 4.2 and Porsche 997S, so I really love German performance and engineering.  I have to say, the Jeep is a real performance bargain, head turner and smile generator.  It's the only one in this lot that I really wanted - it's straightforward, tough, reasonably versatile and really well designed (I tried to like the Porsche, but can’t get past the styling).  I’m not sure comparing it to vehicles costing twice the price is fair, but I’d rather be driving this.  

The BMW is my favorite, with the Jeep in a close second.

I think comparing the SRT8 to vehicles that cost twice as much is a testament to how awesome the Jeep really is.  

I love the look of that Jeep.

The huge chrome rims and fat low profile tires sacoupled with a slightly down in front stance say get the BLANK out of my way.
