I live in St. Petersburg, Fl. I like the new CRV, But the 5 Dealers in the Tampa Bay area do not have but one or two on the lot. They have a deck out demo. You do not see that many on the road. None of the dealers are making deal, in fact one of the dealers have a $1000 HARD TO FIND FEE. Is it just my area or is Honda’s pulling a make more money thing. You would think when you have a new style car you would want to sell more and get them out on the road where people can see them.

I find 10 cars at a dealer in Tampa, mostly black, and silver. But, get this they wanted $5,000 more then list price for pin stripes and protection packing. Can any one tell why they do that?

It might just be the area.
My area is swarming with CRVs in all colors. And no one seemed to have any trouble finding it.

In response to rg: It's because Honda is cocky and overprices their cars. Why? Because people still buy them becuase of all the biased reviews they read in Consumer Reports. Why do I say they're cocky, because I looked at a CR-V, and argued with the salesman for an hour, and every time I proved him wrong he said, "Well, it's a Honda." By the way, I love my Saturn Vue.

You are confused , it is not Honda charging something in excess of MSRP , it is the Honda dealer . It is a simple thing to just walk away , why would you waste an hour of your time arguing with a salesman . People buy Honda automobiles because they perceive them to be a good value and reliable . Unfortunately , ones perception can be altered by a less than professional salesperson . The dealerships that employ such salespeople do not seem to care about reputation or referrals .

Why get a CRV when there are much, much, much better offerings out there. For a basic SUV get the RAV4 - if you like performance get a Forester XT (Subaru = AWD, Honda = FWD, Subaru = Turbocharged boxer engine FTW, Honda = econocar). Test drive a Forester XT then test drive a CRV - you will never bother driving another McHonda again.
Cheers!
