If your digging back for a name, how about "Galaxie"? Just a thought.
If I were the CEO, instead of bringing this car over from Mazda, I would strongly consider bringing the Kuga from Europe. That may very well sell here, while the car we are discussing may very well not.

They learned their lesson on the Five Hundred/ Taurus, I think. Makes sense they use a name that was a great seller for them for many years. ESCORT

Well it's easy to see the age of the writer. Ford 500 is an old name. they used it for several cars to designate trim levels. But other than not know anything about Fords before 1985 it was a well written 'blog'? Is that what you young kids call it? P.S. My second car was a '68 Fairlane 500. Oh yeah, Fairlane's a pretty old name too.

Man I really hope ford names it escort, because that's like my favorite car I've had five of them and I would not mind having one more.

Whats wrong with the Escort????....I think Ford should bring the Escort back. I have had my Escort for almost 3 years and havent had any problems with it.

Yes, that would be the perfect ill-fated flashback import branding.
We had a MKII. I don't think I've ever seen another in the US...

Escort would be a good name to go back to for this car. the car doesnt look too bad and if it is good on gas then you might as well go with the escort because thats what they are...good on gas. I mean there was some issue on whether or not to name the new model focus the escort which would have suited it better in my opinion. I must say the escort needs a respectable comeback, and this might do it. yeah, maybe some alternate models like the s/r or RS would be nice too

With a good, small displacement engine and well geared manual transmission this thing could be excellent
