Toyota Matrix to become Toyota Blade next year

The Matrix will get a full refresh next year, and should look similar to the Japanese-market Blade or the European Auris hatchback. We may get the Japanese name, too. This tells us that Toyota jumped on a name popularized by the famous movie, the Matrix. Now that it's old news, the name needs to change?

The Matrix platform has seen better days.

There are many smaller boxy compacts to choose from today-their Scion XB for one.

The Blade name will never happen here-to many slasher connotations.
