We just heard the not-so-sad news that Chevrolet will retire the Monte Carlo in June. The car had some good years, and was quite lovely in the early '70s. Unfortunately, those days ended a long time ago, and the new one is just hideous, especially with one of the many NASCAR styling packages. Its spot in the lineup will, of course, be filled by the Camaro next year. We're okay with that.

Good riddance. Even back in the early 70's my family owned 1 of those beasts or just 1 more great example of what was so wrong with American cars at the time. The thing was a effing tank and yet still classified as a "mid size" from what I remember. Yes I understand how the system works too when it comes to classifying them.

I personally believe that Gm should alternate the camaro and the monte every 5-8 years to bring exclusivity to them.

With the return of the Camaro, the Monte makes no sense. But I think I'm one of the few that thinks the new Camaro and Challenger aren't going to sell. Maybe this should be another thread.

i personally think that th Camaro will sell really good (if priced right). As for the challenger i believe that it wont be as successful.

Sadly, the Camaro and the new Challenger look almost identical in the front end.
What is up with that?
