Saturn took a page from Hyundai with an aggressive repackaging and new introduction of products to their line.
I am very happy to see it.
Unlike Ford, not an ugly car or SUV in the batch.
GREAT STUFF-SATURN KEEP IT UP!

Im suprised a Saturn is in the running for car of the year. With all the junk they got away with producing in the past.

Very true; their past efforts were pretty weak.
However with the new Aura being basically a copy of the Opel Vectra and the Astra actually a re-badged Opel imported from Belgium, Saturn actually has a crop of vehicles worth bragging about. The Opel connection has served as a positive turning point for the Saturn brand; now we'll see if they can follow through by upgrading and enhancing their lineup in the coming years. And they'll need to learn to market their product more effectively. That's where GM typically drops the ball.

It's easy to forget about the new Saturn Astra (I still don't see many on the roads), but I continue to be impressed with this car.
Briefly driving one from New Jersey to Manhattan, I was reminded how the interior is fantastically solid. Touch and press anywhere — nothing moves. No shakes. No rattles. Nice, soft-quality plastics too.
However, I am still a bit turned off by the coupe's poor rear visibility and weak, 138-hp, 1.8-liter engine (although it does get 24 mpg city/ 32 mpg highway). I would love this car as a Mazda 3/Honda Civic alternative if GM gave Americans a six-speed, turbo optioned Astra redline.

The Astra is one ugly duckling hatchback and it's too bad the GM will not be offering the 1.4 or 1.6 engines. The station wagon is an attractive car. It's a shame they won't be bringing that over either.
