What do you think of our choice for AOY? Do you have your own hot GTI? Post your pictures here!

Astute observers might point out that the car in our February issue where we announced our "Show us your GTI" contest might not be a Golf.  It is, after all, a four-door.

Cammisa 94 Golf 1

I beg to differ.  This is my Satin Silver 1994 Golf four-door.  Well, technically it's no longer mine - I sold it last year.  But make no mistake:  It might have four doors, but it's more GTI than it is Golf.

Cammisa 94 Golf 2

As the license plate said, it ain't got NOMO2.0 -- that means no more 2-point-slow.  Likewise, its original slushbox tranny was yanked, and in their place, a '95 Corrado VR6 (yep, Canadian) and a 5-speed.

Cammisa 94 Golf 3

It also has Mk4-style Hella Headlights, Votex full-width fogs, a Hofele black mesh grille, and a Fuba bee-sting antenna.

I filled the antenna hole in fender, added Zender side skirts, a Euro VR6 lower front spoiler, a Mk4 VR6 badge, Hella Silver rear taillights, and 35% window tint.

Cammisa 94 Golf 4

Inside, it's got Jetta GLX black leather interior with seat heaters and rear head rests, a hybrid instrument cluster, stereo stuff including a 10" Audiobahn sub, Corrado leather shift knob and boot, Remote Keyless Entry, Leather Cabriolet airbag steering wheel.

It has a Neuspeed P-Flo intake and a Neuspeed Stainless Steel Cat-Back 2.25" exhaust with polished chrome DTM tips, and a Turn2 Front Motor Mount. Wheels are 16" TSW Hockenheim Rs wearing 205/45-16 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3. Slammage courtesy of H & R Sport Lowering springs with Bilstein Sport shocks and VR6 strut bearings. a Neuspeed Upper Front Strut Tower Brace and Turn2 Quick Release Rear Strut Tower Brace take some quivers out.

And to stop, there are 11.3" EuroSpec Sport 4-lug Cross-drilled and slotted rotors with Mintex C-Tech race pads in front; Zimmerman cross-drilled rotors with Mintex Red Box pads in the rear.

Got a GTI you wanna share with us?

Nice shot Jpics, Candy white is beautiful with the black and red grille. Way to get the big wheels.  Grin

Okay, well my Mk3 GTI pales in comparison to Jason's awesome Golf VR, but here it is anyway. It's a 95 VR6, Flash Red, with the crazy confetti cloth interior and heated front seats.  It has the first year 9 spoke 15" BBS alloys as well.  I lowered the car with H & R coilovers, and later put a 35% tint on all windows.  Those were my only modifications. The car has been gone 3 years now, and these pictures are all that remain, beside my vivid memories of course.

For your consideration:  my 2006 MkV GTI (Package One ((Sirius)), 18" rims, and DSG) and my brother's 1986 MkII (8v).  Amazing how things have changed over the years!

(Yes, Automobile staff, I did nearly cry when you announced the GTI as AOY.)

I think that the original has the best lines. Square baby, Yeah!
I am a fan of all the rides, but the MK1 as it is called on the 'Tex
has "hopped" away with my heart. I got this car for $50 and have since only placed bout $1600 into it and I think that it drives like it did in 1984. (all that is left if to replace all the bushings that are still original with polys and I will cal it good.)

Every thing on the car is original. bit on the rare side for this make/model

Mine's white too (but I'm in Minneapolis, it's winter, it's dirty, therefore no picture!)Here's a strong recomendation - I installed Neuspeed's Pro Cup Suspension Kit with the Koni FSD shocks, and what a difference!: lowered, great looking stance, incredible handling AND a ride that is equal to or even LESS jarring than stock (that's due to the FSD technology). And, my Autotech cat-back exhaust gives it a nice sound (not like those Japanese "fart tubs" running around!)

Sorry forgot to put the specs. My baby has it's original 1.8 with Autotech cams, european 50mm manifold, Eurosport air intake and a custom geared tranny. The suspension is full race with *** coilovers with 512lb springs in front and 467lb springs in the rear. Upper and lower front bracing with a rollbar inside and Neuspeed antiroll bars 25mmF and 28mm R. Wheels are 15 x 9 Compomotive CXN's with German only 215/40/15 Dunlops. Inside has corbeau seating and 8 VDO guages monitoring the car. Outside is custom paint with shaved everything and custom arches allowing the wide wheels. Handles incredible and so much fun. Thanks!

I've been in the VW scene as long as I could drive. I started with an '88 Diesel Jetta then moved up and on to a '95 GTi. I crashed the first GTi and found another Mulberry GTi VR6 down in N.C. I bought it sight unseen and drove it back up to New England. $27,000 later in modifications and restorations here she is in all her beauty. Only 289 ever made in this color and engine combination.

The paint is Mulberry Red Metallic, with a rebuilt, rebored eninge (3.0L) and ABT Motorsports widebody replica body work. If you want to know more specs LMK.
