The mid-power convertible landscape has changed drastically recently, maybe the upcoming:
Saturn Sky Redline, Pontiac Solstice GXP, BMW Z4, Nissan 350Z convertible, Honda S2000, Ford Mustang GT convertible, and any other sporty convertibles around the $30-40k price range.

And not to mention the forthcoming E93 3-series hardtop convertible!

Although beautiful, the new BMW 325 convertible stickers at $43k so it's pushing the given price range a little.
You could throw the Chrysler Crossfire, Mini Cooper, Mitsubishi Eclipse, and Mazda Miata in there too.

I was shocked at how much I liked the Saturn Sky Red Line. The Home for Little Wanderers in Boston is currently raffling one off for charity (thehome.org/raffle)and I got to take a test drive...I loved it. I was skeptical at first, but this is a fun car to drive for a good cause and it sells for a reasonable price if I don't win the car through my $100 raffle ticket!
