We know we missed one of your favorites in our beautiful cars story... tell us which one.

what amazes me is that you managed to get the list down to 25 cars, I would have trouble choosing 100!

examples: lancia stratos, alfa romeo 33 stradale, 1955 mercedes benz 300Sc, ferrari lusso, ferrari 250gt swb, lancia b20, austin mini, porsche 904GTS, porsche 500 spyder, datsun 510, any 50's corvette, 1957 chevy bel air, need I go on?

good article, try again some time....

I noted someone mentioned the Avanti, which one of my relitives was once ticketed in doing over 100.  He mentioned to the judge "honstley, how fast can a 63 Studebaker go?"  He got out of the ticket.

My favorite, which you missed, was my 1966 Mercedes 250 sedan.  Very classic, clean and solid, a car that even new MB owners checked out.

And the 90's Nissan Z?  Give me a break, that was an overweight, pregnet verson of the 70-80's Z which was stunning, once they ridded the rear of the fake rocket exaust.  Then I was able to stand to buy a 87 300 ZX once they cleaned up the rear to match the rest of the car.  And tight?  It was the Nicon of cars.

"pregnet, Nicon, exaust?!" Can't say I speak Ebonics nor understand this fetish you have with the "cleaning up of the rear." NISSAN LIVES.

Take a break and go to...

A few years ago I compiled my list of the most beautiful cars.  Of your 25 cars, 18 were also on my list.  I would quibble on one of these, the Jaguar XJ6.  I believe that the series III of the design, which appeared in 1979, was an incremental improvement.  We still have our 1985 model.  To the list of 18, I would add the Studebaker, Corvette, and Lamborghini from your list.  On the Corvette, I agreed with Arkus-Duntov when I ordered my 1964, stipulating a coupe only if the split rear window had disappeared.  If restrained to a total of 25, I would replace the Cadillac Sixty Special, Oldsmobile Toronado, 1961 Lincoln Continental, and 1971-75 BMW with the Jaguar XJ220, Jaguar XK8 (1997-2005), Ferrari 250GT Due Posti (1968-1960), and BMW 507 (1956-59).  Anyone for 35 most beautiful?

In the late 80's when Honda dominated F1 with their legendary ace driver Ayrton Senna, I read with great interest about Honda's new production vehicle the NSX (New Sportscar eXperiment). In 1991, I had the opportunity to view in person a silver NSX at an auto show. I thought it was the most beautiful and sexiest car at the time. I now drive a '93 silver NSX. Last month, a friend of mine let me borrow his '07 Cayman S for a week when he went on vacation and you know what, I prefer the Honda. I think the NSX deserves some honorable mention for 25 Most Beautiful Cars ever.

I'm gratified that someone else added the Alfa Stradale as I was kicking myself for omitting it from my list.  I also love the Sprint Speciale but probably not quite in the rarefied air of the top 25.

I've enjoyed seeing what controversy the choice of the Nissan 300ZX has aroused.  Keep it up!

OK, I have to agree with the guys that are saying the 300ZX does not belong on the list, as usual the original, 240Z would have been a better choice, but still maybe not top 25 worthy, the 300ZX did "wow me" when it came out, but looks dated now, the 3rd and 1st generation RX7 wowed me when new, and seeing a nice one still does today.

Overall I think it is a very good list, and has most of my personal favorites, I would pick the Alfa GTV 1750/2000 for the list, as well as the Healey 100 (see my username).

Porsche Cayman is one of the only new cars that takes my breath away, really nice design.

Dark Horse, the '69 Dodge Charger in Plum Crazy, no General Lee cars please.

The BMW 3.0CS definitely does belong on the list, defintiely timeless and classy.

If I have to make room for my choices I would dump the 40s Lincoln and the Studebaker, Lincoln is OK, but not great, always liked the Studebaker, but like is not love.  Same for the XJ-6.

Interstingly I was reading an article from the 50s which referred to the Jaguar SS100 as surely one of the most beautiful cars of all time, I think we generally tend to think of the cars we admired from our youth, formative car years as it were, as the most beautiful, hence many 50s and sixties cars on this list.

Then again, I don't think it is all age/generational related, don't think there will ever be too many 70s cars on the most beautiful list.

You guys have a great list. A lot of these cars are beautiful in different ways, shape and form. I was hoping to see the Ferrari Enzo, Dodge Viper GTR, 67' GT500, 69' Camaro SS, 66' Austin Martin DB6, or ANY Duesenberg's.

I don't agree with the Jaguar XJ6, Studabaker, nor the Corvette Stingray Coupe. It would be better to put the Corvette Stingray Convertible, or a 50's Thunderbird. If you wanted the most beautiful coupe during the 60's, the GT500 is far more beautiful than the Stringray Coupe.

But I do agree with the BMW 3.0 and the Nissan 300zx. The BMW 3.0 looks like a car James Bond would drive, setting a German design standard. Whereas the 300zx, at its time was a engineering/design marvel during its release in 1989. It won so many awards in all 6 years of its production. The timeless lines on the 300zx set a standard in what Japanese super cars should look like. Both the BMW 3.0 and the Nissan 300zx are definitely under-rated! Both made their marks in the 24-hour Le Mans as well. If Lamborghini bought rights to use 300zx headlights, then you know Nissan did something right!

1959 Four Door Cadillac painted black.

There will NEVER be another product run like this car again.

Simply an amazing car to look at-let alone drive.

I would have added only one car--the 1964 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato.

Everything else was spot on, especially the Miura and Sting Ray.

Interesting and thought provoking list.
Choosing just 25 is a killer!

Two that stand out to me as to how they made the cut are the Toronado and the 300ZX; both are awesome and worthy of inclusion in a larger list but...more beautiful than a '63' Avanti, a first generation T-Bird or as suggested in a previous post-"a Duesenberg, Packard, Porsche or Pierce-Arrow".

A great list and easy to see why most of them are there. A few I question, like others have as well. The 1961 Lincoln, the Buick, the Tornado are three that for me, don't fit in. My favourite not on the list? The 1968 Dodge Charger. Few US cars looks as good forty years later. The early Ford Mustangs (fastback style) as well should be on the list. I too question the choice of the particular vintage BMW. Surely there are better choices, even within BMW models! How the Studebaker Avanti was left off the list is amazing as well. Few if any cars have held their looks as well as has the Avanti.
