Nissan 300zx, I too dont know. Beauty, hmm. Meybe very modern for its era, yes, but beauty is timeless, and as such bears no resemblence to the era. Miura, for instance, evokes emotion, and thought, is sexy and sinister, all through harmonized lines and angles, that creates beauty through its ability to evoke the aformentioned, through its simplicity. Its design evokes soul, you look at it and are imediatly filled with impure, steamy thought. It doesnt just compliment the senses, it captures them, like a drug, you judge other cars, based off of the Miura standard, though none could truly achieve, leaving you unsatisfied, if only for a second. The Lady Z, as fair as she is, does not. It is cool, yes, but it doesnt linger in my memory. Beauty does. Beauty cant be replicated. The Dino, well never see again. The first V8 Vantage, try Aston try. But the 300ZX? Well i forgot about it when I was 4, 2000gt, I didnt even see James drive it, but I knew it was special. The 300ZX, tries to capture the futura trend of the 80's, with its angles and all, but it is relevant to its time, which may be attractive, but is not beautiful.

The CS Coupe is a derivitive of the 2000CS of 1966. The awkward little car, sported the famous BMW 4 cylinder which started BMW on their road to "Aspiration Status" It was only after the introduction of the Bavaria, that BMW felt it should update the weird nose styling with a longer nose, more engine and a wider track.
As it sits, the coupe "is" one of the worlds most beautiful, the tension between the c pillars and the flat side panels is perfect.
Lose the 300 Nissan Riviera and the Corvette, add the Duesy J, the Bugatti Bebe and the Peugeot 406 Coupe, and you can wrap this up.

You have to include the 60's Shelby GT500 and any Deusenbergs. The list IMHO is pretty fair. The Toronado should definitely not be there. C'mon guys, the 300zx is a very well deserving car, because how it set an engineering standard in the late 80's and 90's, in 1 complete package. The timeless exotic lines and the Twin-Turbo powerplant made all car manufacturers run back to their drawing boards. Exactly what Lamborghini did when they purchased their headlights, and how Toyota did with their TT Supras...

Nice list. My son (teenager and committed Camaro enthusiast) read the article and is now begging me to resurrect my 1971 Lotus Elan Coupe, which I've owned for 25 years and dismantled it 9 years ago with a vague plan to restore it. Presently it's in about 150 baggies of various sizes and in various places throughout the garage. Oh, the power of the written word and pics. Looks like the project has receieved the necessary spark. Thanks.

I agree that the the A4/S4 is a good looking 4-door, although the styling is somewhat restrained. The reality is that the sheetmedal hides what really makes this car great; it's on (and off) road dynamics. If you take away these attributes you are left with a mildly attractive body and finely crafted interior trimmings, hardly worthy of a place in the "25 most beautiful cars".
